Feel I haven't much news nor the presence of mind to put it on paper, but here goes... Am trying to psyche myself up for a busy summer - don't want to work hard + I'm getting quite ambivolent. Did do letter for Guil Co inspectors - hope they'll respond promptly - Think they're obligated to advise me at least. Will use as last resort Betty Kent's husband Reese. He's one of top personnel at Greensboro Fire Dept + they're into fire prevention in a bit way of course.

                Went over to Pa + Carrie Phelan's to take a box of chocolates + say "hello" + congrats - she passed her driver's

                test today. She was quite relieved + proud.

                Phillip met w/ orthodontist today - needs upper + lower braces but can get them installed in Sept so trip won't interfere w/ frequent checkups. Needs trip to Cork for Xrays + impressions during June. Looks as if the cost will be less than in U.S., thank God! He also needs trip to Dublin for kidney check - June is filling up quickly!

                Cheryl wrote about Bill's diabetes. Am really sorry - changing one's diet isn't easy to a lover of good food!

                Read your letter of May 20 today. Thanks - you covered all the bases, it seems. I did draft my letter to co. inspec.

                ofc incl. data on amt. Burke is charging. Feel they will respond. Will mail you a copy of letter as soon as Edw. gets it typed for me.

                Am thankful the house isn't so mucked. not sure I have the stamina for a super mess these days.

                Hope to get a thorough physical exam in July. Feel I'm either becoming a super hyperchondriac or that my body is threatening to fall apart. Know I need a real rest.

                Went by Salesians convent where Phillip went to school 1st year here. Talked w/ Si. Elizabeth - head mistress - she's a lovely person. Decided to enroll Jonathan. Know he'll be a very young 4 but he has such an active mind + needs so much activity. Mella B. in the playschool agreed to take him back if we decide during the yr he's in too deep or too tired.

                Have had summery weather. Incredible! Have been enjoying my sundresses from last Aug.
                <pb n="3" />
                Think I'll put the glass table out in the back yd so we can eat outside some.

                Wish I could afford to hire a cook for the summer - that would be neat to enjoy all the good American foods w/o having to prepare them or clean up the mess!

                Can't think of any more news. Thanks for the letter + your help.
